Potts Point has a big personality. It's a place where style isn’t about trends but about the people who bring it to life. Every café, every sidewalk, every street corner has some sort of story of someone owning their look, making a statement without saying a word.
Spotted in Potts documents street style around Sydney's east and hair inspiration. And you're reading the first one, written by me, Danni Deane, your new favourite local Potts Point salon. Here, we celebrate the community, the way people in this pocket of Sydney express themselves through fashion and hair.
A woman sits effortlessly on the curb, absorbed in her phone. The sun catches the soft golden balayage in her hair, creating this natural halo effect. She has a lot of tousled texture which just adds so much personality to her structured pinstripe blazer, an interplay between sharp tailoring and undone ease. The way she wears it, pushed back off her face yet cascading in perfectly imperfect waves, it feels unforced, like she simply stepped into the light and let it do the rest. It’s a moment of quiet luxury, the kind that doesn’t need embellishment.
We walked further up Macleay Street and saw this effortlessly stun style. Vicky is actually a client so when we asked her to act natural, she pulled it off! Her crisp white linen pants and Missoni vest nod to European summers, but it’s the hair that commands attention. Voluminous, smooth, and perfectly styled, it recalls an era where effort was celebrated. She walks like she knows every corner of Potts Point. The oversized sunglasses, the structured bag, it all reinforces a kind of refined ease that feels deeply tied to the rhythm of this place.
Then, a different energy enters the frame. Long, impossibly glossy brunette sway as she moves, a reflection of careful curation and intentional minimalism. The richness of her hair contrasts with the muted espresso of her cargo pants, the softness of her layers balancing the urban practicality of her look.
There’s something deeply communal about the way Potts Point wears itself. The hair, the clothes, the way people move—it’s all a reflection of a neighbourhood that understands itself. It’s in the way a perfectly tailored blazer finds balance in soft, undone waves. It’s in the way a vintage silhouette feels modern again, simply because of the woman who wears it. It’s in the way hair isn’t just a detail but a declaration.
What makes Spotted in Potts more than just a street-style series is the people. The ones who turn a simple walk through the neighbourhood into a moment worth capturing. The ones whose hair tells stories as much as their outfits do. The ones who remind us that style isn’t about what you wear—it’s about how you wear it, how you own it, how you let it become a part of your city’s fabric.
Next time you find yourself in Potts Point, take a moment to look around. The beauty is everywhere—in the way the sun catches a perfectly placed highlight, in the nonchalant flick of hair over a shoulder, in the confidence of those who move through these streets like they belong to them.
